National Novel Writing Month - Mission Accomplished!

Friday, November 30th, 2007

I never thought I would be able to do it, but after 30 day’s of solid writing, I finished the novel. I think there’s some ambiguity as to the rules as the novel is largely autobiographical instead of fictional, but I don’t care. I wrote myself a novel. (more…)

I’ve been slowly working on this buddhism thing, taking one step at a time. It’s funny howsome of the thigns I’ve almost already been doing, while others are completely alien to me. One of these alien habits that is really giving me trouble is mindfulness. (more…)

Last weekend I finally managed to catch The Coen brother’s new movie No Country for Old Men. I must say that despite a couple problems near the ending, it’s an amazing film. It really pulls you into the story with everything it can, from sounds to images. (more…)

My first step into Buddhism

I’ve always toyed with the idea of Buddhism and thought about how much it made sense to me. Not so much as a devotional religion, but more as a way of life.

Yet, these last few weeks I’ve been giving it more than a casual thought. I really apreciate it’s attitude of tolerance and compassion for the sake of your own inner peace, instead of some vague paradise. So, after some deliberation, I’ve started my steps to becoming a Buddhist. (more…)

My Flickr Map

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

FlickrThose of you who aren’t constant Flickr people, might not know about Flickr’s map service. This service let’s you place your photos on a global map and set locations to your photos. I’ve been doing this since I first started Flickr, and all of my photos are “Geotagged”. Here’s a couple of interesting things I’ve found about geotagging (more…)

Film Festival (a Play-by-Play)

For reasons that will become obvious later, I must make this short. Last night’s film festival was a pseudo success, in that no one was able to complete 24 hours of solid movie watching. I think I learned a couple of things that will probably help in accomplishing this feat. We weren’t prepared people, we just weren’t prepared. Here’s an hourly play-by-play of the evening’s events. The Threemasons

In High School, I was in a band called The Threemasons (There were three of us and we were really into conspiracy theories). Unfortunately, as is bound to happen with all great musical groups, we disbanded. We played a couple of practice’s and a show or two, but never really got off the ground. Despite the inability to get it together, we did manage to get a couple of good songs going. (more…)

Escaping from prison

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

Probably caused by last weeks CalArts madness, I had a dream last night that I discovered a prison with very minimal security. It was actually attached to a tire shop and if you managed it, you could just walk out the front.

In the dream, I had already been arrested and escaped once. I had so much fun that I invited all my friends to come and escape with me. When I returned to prison, it turned out that no one accepted my invitation.

Sadly, I walked out of the jail and made my way home. This time, the escape wasn’t fun at all.

Ive been working on and off on this story for the better part of this year. The problem is, I’ve never been satisfied with the ending. So, I’ve decided to just start shooting what I have and releasing it in portions. It is my hope that this story unfolds on at least a monthly basis, with more of the background being explained as time goes on. (more…)

National Novel Writing Month

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

I’ve decided to join in the fight against illiteracy. I’m taking part in the National Novel Writing Month. I know, I know. “What the hell makes you think YOU can write a novel?” The truth is, I’m not sure It will be too well, but I’m going to give it a try anyway. Atleast I can tell my grandkids one day “I tried to write a novel once, can you change grandpa’s diapers?” You have to write 50,000 words or 170-something pages by the end of November.
