The Nativity Story

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

I recently found myself in a situation where this movie was presented to me. Now, rather than make a big stink and storm out, I figured I would at least watch the thing and then later rightfully complain about how horrible it was. After the first couple of minutes, I realized I was looking for something to criticize. It was really hard to stay impartial about something as heavy as the ‘Christ’ story. I decide to give it a try anyway and watch it from a clean perspective, without my own religious preconceptions. (more…)

I once wrote a story about Mocherz. The things that guy does just crack me up all the time. It was a photo story detailing an average day in Mocherz life. It’s called “Thing’s I do.” (more…)

Raleigh

Those of you who are Sublime fans will remember Raleigh from the Robbin’ the hood album. These were spoken word recordings where you heard a guy named Raleigh spew off craziness about body fluids and semantic blockage. Sublime inserted these 5 minute ramblings at about every three songs. For some reason or another, I became obsessed with Raleigh and the ramblings he had recorded. Eventually, I decided to make a short cartoon using only the sounds of Raleigh rambling. (more…)

Achewood - Time Magazine’s #1 Graphic Novel for 2007

I’ve been reading the semi-daily comic at Achewood.com on a daily basis for about 5 years now. I’ve even tried to convince everyone with a similar sense of humor to get into it. For some reason or another, these attempts have largely failed. I’ve never been able to understand why I was the only one who understood the amazing site that is Achewood. (more…)

Fireman Bob

I once planned on making a children’s book about Fireman Bob. The idea would be that Fireman Bob had accidentally imbibed psychotropic drugs. I was just going to take all of the images from this other children’s book, rip out the text and adjust the images a bit. (more…)

Man Vs. Animal - Eating Challenge

I challenged my cat to an eating contest.  I’ve been challenging it at jumping up high in the air, biting and other things, but he keeps winning.  Damned if he isn’t a high jumper.  But this time I won’t be beat.  I set the two plates down at about the same time and then the contest was on.  I ate a burrito, he ate kibble.  You may say I won by forfeit.  I don’t care, that stupid cat ate my dust.  Oh, I also recorded the contest for posterity. (more…)

Getting anal with music

I have allot of music. Not just allot of music, but “allot” of music. The problem is that I have so much, that digging through it has become tedious, not to mention there’s great albums that I haven’t heard in a while. The problem is I can spend a considerable amount of time just LOOKing for something to listen to. (more…)

I’ve written a book

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

Now, I don’t know if it’s any good, but damnit I wrote a book. I never really thought about how much time and effort goes into writing one, but apparently it’s not a piece of cake. It’s called “What am I doing here ?!” and I wrote about my time in Basic Training, what I was going through at the time and the strange things I encountered in Lawton, Oklahoma (more…)

Beowulf

A couple of months ago, I was at an animation thing with Mocherz and upon sitting down with some strangers began to geek out about movies and cartoons and stuff. The conversation turned onto animation and how no one has ever really made a serious adult animation. At least not in the U.S. Of course you have movies like “A scanner Darkly” which are sort of animation, but still it seems more of a movie converted to pictures. Fortunately, last night I saw such a movie, and it was called Beowulf. (more…)

No More Sex on Berkeley sidewalks

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

In a recent SF Gate article, they wrote about Berkeley’s new laws concerning use of it’s public space. Apparently it’s now punishable to smoke, sleep or have ‘the sex’ on Berkeley sidewalks. while the law applies to all pedestrians, some see it as an attempt to get rid of it’s homeless. (more…)
