My 15 minutes of flickr fame

Friday, February 29th, 2008

I’ve had my flickr account for a year or two now and sometimes, when a photo is real good it goes up to a hundred or two views. I really feel proud of these photos. Yesterday, on a lark, I decided to jump in on the song charts meme. (more…)

Simulation and Garfield

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

I’ve always liked Garfield. From the age of 10 I got it. Garfield is lazy and doesn’t care.  That is a wholly likable character.   Yet following this digg link, I’ve fallen into a whole world of variations and oddities from this classic strip. (more…)

Who the hell is this?

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

Ok, so maybe I forgot to pay for the domain and webspace. It seems completely fair to block my site and remove my ability to add updates. But instead of replacing with a “site down” or even “webpage for sale” information page, they replaced it with something that really got me thinking. Screencap after the jump (more…)

Podcast #6 - Wedding Music (Pt. 2)

Friday, February 15th, 2008

Alright, time to crank it up a notch. Not too much, just a notch. This second (and final) wedding playlist constitutes the higher BPM spectrum of the wedding. It has a couple standards like Brickhouse and Rock Lobster, but also has Pedro Infante singing about Jalisco and Hepcat asking you to dance with them. Enjoy, as always feedback appreciated.

‘Direction’ accepted to screening at Pacific Film Archives

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

A short film I made in 2006, Direction, has been accepted into a screening at the Pacific Film Archives in Berkeley. The show entitled “We are Cinema” runs Wednesday, April 9th. This is the second time one of my films runs at the PFA. In 2005, Automaton was also accepted into a screening entitled “Radical Drifts“. There’s no prize money or anything like that, but it’s just the motivation I needed to keep working on stuff for a while. The screening order can be seen below. (more…)

Infinity Comic

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

In the Summer of 2004, on a trip to Rome, I began thinking of a project. The premise was that a catholic priest was falling from grace, but still trying to keep from leaning towards ‘evil’. The story never got through the initial stage, but I did manage to get it somewhat started. Below is the half-hearted, half-started project known as “Infinity” (more…)

You’re just saying that ’cause I’m black.

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

Not to get too political with a double post, but a recent article by the Wall Street Journal brings up a great point. Essentially, it counters the idea that ‘Republicans will tear Obama apart’ by saying that their ability to lob personal attacks will be greatly reduced. Obama’s opponents will only be able to criticize ‘real issues’, because anything else can be construed as racially motivated. If you think about it, one can imagine a Republican dealing with being labeled as sexist, but they will very strongly avoid anything that labels them racist.

I did it all for the sticker.

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

Of course tribal gambling issues and term limits are of major importance. The decisions on who the major parties will support should also be taken under consideration. But seriously, it’s the sticker that seals the deal. Nothing gives me the pleasure of living under a democratic union more than a small oval sticker letting the non-voting world know that I am their moral superior. Wear it proud America. More than a symbol of your interest in our nation, it’s a badge giving you the right to bitch when someone complains about community college prices. (more…)
