When I first started as a substitute teacher, I was horrified. I was covering a stereotypical inner city high school with a bunch of jaded students. Amazingly, one year later, I can walk into any classroom and hold it down for the two hour period. The following is a brief list of the tricks and tips I’ve learned which allow me to keep the room from falling apart.
You wake up sleepily on a Saturday morning and feel like getting the day started right. It’s too early for the beach and too late for a morning hike. You’re somewhere in LA and have $3-$10 at your disposal. How’s about a Swap Meet. You think of Cypress, too far, Rose Bowl, only once a month. Let me help you out. Get on the 5 freeway and exit Alondra. Pay your $.75 entry fee, grab yourself a beer and come see the wonder that is the Santa Fe Springs Swap meet.
