An anonymous breakup letter

Let me just put it out there, I don’t want you in my life anymore.

I know what you’re thinking, the same thing we always do, one last time before I go.  I’m sorry, but I can’t.  What little strength I have now, comes from knowing you’re control over me.  This time it will be different.

The hardest part about this, is the history we have.  I can’t deny that you’ve been there, at my fumbling attempts at growing up.  You helped me through those uncomfortable self-aware moments.  Standing in a crowd, struggling to do something with my hands.  Into my pockets?  Arms crossed?  Wrapping myself around you soon became all I needed.

But that was a time long ago and lets face it, it’s not the same as it used to be.  There were times when I sat excitedly, tapping my foot in anticipation of seeing you.  Now it seems like we barely even see each other, except you’re occasional appearance when friends gather.

And now that we’re putting everything on the table, let me tell you that you’re no good for me.  You’ve never been good for me.  Sure there were good times, and you’ve been extremely dependable, but only when there was money around.  I always found you curiously indisposed on the lighter days of my wallet.

The funny thing is, I know you won’t miss me.  I’ve seen how you act with others and know I never held your full attention.  I’m sure you wont have any trouble finding someone else to keep you close and think of you constantly.
