In the Summer of 2004, on a trip to Rome, I began thinking of a project. The premise was that a catholic priest was falling from grace, but still trying to keep from leaning towards ‘evil’. In my opinion, one of the most important elements in a wedding, is the music. While flowers and other details can help set the mood, I think music is one of the more revealing aspects of both parties. Planning my own wedding in July, I’ve been going through the old iTunes and slowly building my own wedding playlist. (more…)

At UC Berkeley, I took a course called “Introduction to digital media”. We went through a number of ideas on new media and it’s definition thereof. At one point, we received a project in which we were to design a game or website that interacted with visitors a bit more than basic information and feedback. Years ago, under the influence of various ‘household items’, I found the meaning of life. This wasn’t a simple “Oh, ok that makes sense”. It was more of a “I must go out and tell the people” sort of epiphany. It was during a birthday party, and instead of enjoying everyone around and having a good time, I shut myself in my room with a notebook. What I wrote was absolute genius. Those of you who are Sublime fans will remember Raleigh from the Robbin’ the hood album. These were spoken word recordings where you heard a guy named Raleigh spew off craziness about body fluids and semantic blockage. Sublime inserted these 5 minute ramblings at about every three songs. For some reason or another, I became obsessed with Raleigh and the ramblings he had recorded. Eventually, I decided to make a short cartoon using only the sounds of Raleigh rambling. (more…)

I once planned on making a children’s book about Fireman Bob. The idea would be that Fireman Bob had accidentally imbibed psychotropic drugs. I was just going to take all of the images from this other children’s book, rip out the text and adjust the images a bit. (more…)

I challenged my cat to an eating contest.  I’ve been challenging it at jumping up high in the air, biting and other things, but he keeps winning.  Damned if he isn’t a high jumper.  But this time I won’t be beat.  I set the two plates down at about the same time and then the contest was on.  I ate a burrito, he ate kibble.  You may say I won by forfeit.  I don’t care, that stupid cat ate my dust.  Oh, I also recorded the contest for posterity. Now, I don’t know if it’s any good, but damnit I wrote a book. I never really thought about how much time and effort goes into writing one, but apparently it’s not a piece of cake. It’s called “What am I doing here ?!” and I wrote about my time in Basic Training, what I was going through at the time and the strange things I encountered in Lawton, Oklahoma (more…)

I never thought I would be able to do it, but after 30 day’s of solid writing, I finished the novel. I think there’s some ambiguity as to the rules as the novel is largely autobiographical instead of fictional, but I don’t care. I wrote myself a novel. (more…)
